First Day of School

I know we all say it, but MAN did Summer go by fast or what?
My kids were so ready to start school and I was ready for them to start.
Hudson started 3rd grade this year. Is that nuts of what? I remember 3rd grade like it was yesterday. I can still picture where I sat at Polk School, my teacher and remember learning times tables and cursive which I used to love, but man do I hate it now.
Hudson is so excited to learn all of those and has actually been practicing his cursive and already knows a lot of multiplication.
I know this is a bad picture because both kids look like dorks but I loved that Finn had to get in on the photo with Hudson. (Ruby was still really sick so she didn't get a photo this day, plus Kindergarten hadn't started yet).

I was so sick of Ruby asking me almost daily when school was going to start that we made a chain for school. Unfortunately because she got sick and had to miss the first day of school it didn't work out to well but at least it helped her see how many days were left.

Ruby ended up only  missing one day of school. She got better so fast and the sores went away that she was able to go to kindergarten! She was so happy and felt so big.
She didn't seem nervous all morning but once we got to her classroom and she knew no one, she started to get a bit worried. I knew she be fine, she's not as shy as Hudson and was talking to her "new" friends by the time I walked out. I got a bit teary eyed seeing her at school and leaving her there. She used to be so small and now a kindergartner.
They both go to Shadow Valley Elementary and is almost a mile from our home so they walk to school every morning with a few of the neighborhood kids. Then I just pick Ruby up when she's finished and Hudson walks home with his friends when he's finished. Its a good long walk down hill on the way there and up hill on the way home. Its good for them and they actually like walking!

She loved her first day of school but said it was too short.  She only has morning kindergarten from 8:55-11:45 so it is a bit short and they didn't have outdoor recess or homework for a few days so she was a bit sad that she wasn't like Hudson but now school is in full force and she get recess and homework and she loves it!
Finn came in after we got back from taking Ruby to school and while holding the kindergarten sign, said, "mom, cheese!" He was so cute! He wanted his picture taken too!
And boy does this little guy miss his siblings.  He tells me almost every morning, "mom, Ruby up?" He wants us to go wake up ruby, but little does he know she's already gone.  Good thing she's only gone half day or this little guy would be so sad because Ruby and he play so well together! She is a little mama to him and most of the time he lets her.
