Master Bedroom

Over the next little while I will be posting pictures of my new house. With some of the changes we've made and will make. First off my master bedroom. Many of you know Trent made us the bed, you can read about it here. I love it but I feel like I am so limited on how to decorate. I want a romantic nice bedroom but I feel with the Log bed and dresser it limits me so I need some help.
I always wanted the room a chocolate brown because I felt it would make the bed pop, what do you think? I sometimes wonder if a deep red would've been better?
I finally got the bedding I wanted here. I wanted it forever ago but it sold out and it was even impossible to get it on ebay but PB brought it back. I felt it would look really good with our brown walls, brown coverlet and pillows. Now I think I need some red and gold pillows to go the bed don't you?
Our windows are set back in and I love it because I hope to someday have a nice leather chair and little table back in by the window for a little reading nook. Cute huh!?!
And what about the curtains do they look good? I have been trying to find some curtains that would pop against the chocolate wall and I found these goldish yellow ones that matched the bed perfect and went well with the bedding at Target on clearance. I just got them so I can take them back, but they are a raw silk material and so I think it helps make it look nice. Maybe?

Ok now for the walls. I haven't put anything on them yet. What do you put on chocolate walls? What color frames? I wanted to put some of those metal things on the wall but would you see it? Would it go with the log furniture? I like my furniture but I hate how it limits me. Someday I want a really nice romantic bedroom and one of the kids can have this furniture. Or maybe we'll have a cabin it can go to, haha. That would be cool.

And above the bed? What do I put? A vinyl saying in cream or gold? What saying? Or a picture collage? Its a big room and it needs something. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

April, I think you have a good start. Have you thought about adding more greens (I like the lamp color by the way) for example a foliage decor or even something burnt orange might do. Have fun. I love redecorating.

I think it looks great! I will come help you hang things in your room! I think that you should stay away from any sayings in your room. I think that is cute in kid rooms or livingrooms, not so much in the master. I guess it depends on what you put though! Okay, here is my suggestion; put one of those iron wall hangy things above your bed, I will send you a few of the ones I like. I think it would be nice to keep the walls pretty bare, not too over done, that will help in the romance department. I love the curtains they seriously soften up the space! You could add a big green plant of some sort, green plants look wonderful against brown! A mirror is always nice, cut up the one in your living room and Brody could make you a frame and you could paint it any color you like! Just some ideas!

I absolutely love the bed he did a great job.. and I think any colors would go great with that furniture anytime you want a change... I also think Bright Red would make it pop.....

I think it looks great! I love the wall color. I think you're right, some gold and red pillows would look great on the bed and would help bring out the colors in the bedding. You could do some accent pieces with those same colors, as well. I love the curtains, too. They look great in your room. Good luck! Can't wait to see the rest of the house :)

love the green, I would add a pillow, like a cream pillow with green accents, and above the bed, HUGE pix of your kids in rustic frames.

I love the color of your walls! I am such a paint person, it's fun to see every one elses taste! Great job!!!!!

I agree with the Rustic frame advice, but I wouldn't do the kids over the bed (put them in the hall, family room, or in smaller frames on the night stand). I think it's nice to have pics of you and your husband in the master bedroom... Over the bed I would find a great piece of art! Maybe a large print (which would be affordable) with the bold colors you want would be nice. I think that you would feel like the room was complete then. There are endless "shabby chic" possibilities in framing....which would work with your furniture.

Now that I look at the pics of your bedroom again...the right piece of art might be difficult to find because the headboard is very tall....hmmmm...you'd have to find a panoramic.

Forget all of that...just put up a giant Moose head! LOL :)

April you are so funny. I think there were about 100 questions in that post! I also have a log bed & share your sentiments. It is great, but can be so hard to decorate around! In fact, I have your same bedding from PB, the older version, though. It has more reds & oranges, & the new one they added the chocolate brown & the little pink stripe. I love the chocolate brown walls! (You're actually not supposed to ever paint your bedroom Red, BTW, the color makes you feel anxious & no one wants that in their bedroom!) I think adding a bold color on your walls reduces the need for too much other stuff. It makes a statement all by itself. Your house is coming along great!

I think the chocolate turned out great, you'd probably get sick of red. And cream frames & vinyl would accent it nice. A quote I want to put somewhere is, "Lord give me the patience to endure my blessings," it's so true.

I saw some WAY cute ones at BIG LOTS of all places! way cheap too. erik and I have this painting of a man in a little row boat in chile that a man painted for erik on his mission, I LOVE it and it matches so great. find a good painting. you could also look at TJ or tuesay morning... so far so good! and the curtains are great! so cute
