Follow-up to last post

First off, THANK YOU! All of you for your kind words! And sorry to scare you or make you cry. I guess I tend to do that on this blog.  I guess I am a drama queen.

It was a very scary day! So surreal to even think that it happened. But all involved were so blessed that day. Seriously! And isn't my friend Tyler AMAZING! I mean come on! Such a Stud!

Here are a few things I want to add:

-I was shook up for a few days.  Trent gave me a blessing that night and it really helped a lot. After we got back from the police station I went to bed. I was physically sick all night.  I think from the stress and adrenaline. I remembered being a daze for a few days not really sure what had happened or if it would affect my kids. I just really wanted to talk to Laura and Tyler so bad to see if they were ok.  Remember, I had only had a brief hug/conversation with them on the scene then left.

-I told the story a lot! Some people thought it was my house, the stories were nuts of what people heard so there was a lot of clarifying. It was a hard thing to talk about for awhile. I would shake and cry. After awhile I didn't want to tell it. My friends were the same way.

-I was a little worried about how my kids would do. I was worried they'd have bad dreams or other side affects, but luckily they ended up being fine. For a few days Ruby would say, "Do you remember when I was crying and I couldn't get out of my seat belt? That was scary!" So cute and naive, she had no idea what was going on. THANK HEAVENS!

-Hudson did ask a few questions here and there about the man and what he was doing and what happened but he was fine.

-Laura and Tyler had some amazing neighbors who got their house/carpet cleaned while they were at the police station that night.  Laura said you couldn't really tell anything had happened when they got back, other than the dent in their fridge.  People took such good care of them.  They got the blood off the driveway and replaced the siding on the front of there house that had the bullet hole. But, oh I forgot to tell you, the cops ran through their fence and it fell down. And no they haven't fixed or paid for that yet(the cops)  ohh makes me mad!

-Tyler and Laura did sleep in their house that night. I was a bit shocked but they said they felt like they needed things to be as normal as possible for their kids. They said they didn't sleep much but felt ok. They received some amazing blessings from their families, Bishop, and Stake President.  They really felt so blessed throughout the whole ordeal! A lot of Tender Mercies played out that day.

-The police took Tyler's bat, shirt, and socks as evidence. He was so sad to that he couldn't keep his bat, but I think after the trial and all is said and done he gets it back(he may have already I can't remember) They better frame that thing! Oh and it was a metal bat! Ya, OUCH! OH and you can bet a few neighbors, along with us have a bat under our beds now!

-Tyler and Laura were never interviewed by media.  I was not either. I was told they might come by my house to get my story but the police advised me against speaking to them. Luckily they never came.
There were news media outside of their home for quite sometime and they got plenty of calls to be interviewed but they didn't want to. They didn't want their story to get "changed" and Tyler all along said he didn't want to be called a "Hero" (although he was one) he said he was just doing what he was supposed to do, protecting his home and family! What a humble guy!

-I did not have all the details of what happened to my friends until Sunday night, 2 days later, when Laura and Tyler came to our house to talk to us.  They wanted to see how I was doing and wanted to tell us the whole story. They said they were sick of telling the story as well but because I was involved it was good to talk to someone who knew what it felt like in that situation.  I was in tears the entire time it was so emotional reliving it and getting details I had no idea had happened. I didn't know Laura was in the house or the kids while the man was in there. I had no idea what Tyler actually did.  It was so good to be with them and not only hear the full story but for all of us to talk about how amazingly blessed we were that day.

-The next week I was a little nervous to go to piano. It was at the same time and at the same place. I always park the same way. I remember the closer I got to the street the more my heart raced. I had a mini panic attack I swear. I started to sweat, get a little teary and just became really nervous. So werid! It made me feel even worse for my friend, it happened in her house! The one place you should feel safe! They are doing well now.  It was hard at first to be in the house at times but they are doing well.

-Another thing, it is not a scary neighborhood. It is the cutest/quietest neighborhood with tons of kids! The man had no ties or connection to them or anyone within blocks. He had robbed the bank and then took the police on a car cash from South Ogden all the way through Clearfield, Roy, West Haven, and more then back up to So Ogden, he crashed his car so he carjacked a women and then got out on foot by their house and was running and going from door to door to see if someone would answer so he could hide.  So when he tried to get in Laura's house in the front door and they locked it I guess since they shot him he went to the back and it was open so he let himself in.

-He was in the ICU for quite sometime, tons of injuries from 5 gun shots all up his side.  The trial ended about 2 months ago and he is now in prison for 6 years to life.  Tyler attended the trial and was brave enough to tell his story and how much it had affected their family. They feel peace and closure now that he is behind bars.  And so do I.

-Oh and the first time I heard a gun shot go off, I freaked! I don't like hearing gun shots anymore. Well, never did but now I really don't!

jees louise That was way scary. I felt emotionally exausted after reading it too. LUckily the HG got through to people involved, its hard not to panic. He was a loose canon meaning he could have hurt anyone even your babies like you said...it's so good that you made them duck etc and got them to safety.
