So I'm in need of some help! In my fireplace room (its a little sitting room connected to our kitchen and dinning room, or great room) the wall has been orange since we moved in. Not a Halloween orange, but a nice fall orange. I haven't loved it since we moved in, but I was so sick of painting and it matched the curtains and couch, so I decided to leave it for awhile and see what I thought later. Well, almost three years later I am so sick of it! I have a lot of decor ideas and I feel the orange limits those.
See what I mean, just BLAH!
So, today I was bored and in need of a change and I had tons of primer in my basement so I went to town painting.
Here is a picture with the white primer. Doesn't it already look better, more Fresh?
See the curtains on the right? They aren't my favorite, just not my style. They were custom made and the lady we bought the house from said were VERY expensive. She told me if we ever took them down, she wanted them. Really? Isn't it our house now? And where would she put custom curtains?

Anyway, I plan on making some curtains and then someday having custom shutters put there.
Oh wouldn't that be sooo cute! And expensive! There are there cute windows on that wall right next to each other.
I am worried that with the "vision" I have for this room my rustic fireplace limits me. But I also LOVE my chunky/rustic fireplace. You can see the slate is dark and the fireplace has the rustic, scratched, dinged(is that a word?) look. But my slate also has a lot of greys in it so I'm leading towards that color on top. I thought that painting over the orange it would help which it has but I am stuck. Not sure what to do or what colors would look good.
This room is my inspiration. Of course I'd love to get new furniture and do a "whole" makeover, but for now its only going to be paint and maybe molding, with a few pillow/curtain changes. I would love to do some sort of molding on the bottom and then do a grayish/ran on the top. but I'm worried it won't "work" with my fireplace. What do you think?
I actually like this molding a bit more, but I think its too "fancy" for the room so I think the picture before with the thick molding would work better, but would probably cost a lot more.
So I'd LOVE all your design help, ideas! Will the grey on the top( like the picture with the thick molding) and a cream/white on the bottom with molding work?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I think it will work just fine!!! The style now a days is anything goes, you don't want things to be matchy matchy! nutral walls are in and fun accessories!!! Love those inspiration pics! And maybe eventually you could tile over your existing tile around the fireplace!!! You could even paint the fireplace, *gasp* I know I said it!!!
I agree with amy i think you should totally do the yellow and gray or I vote gray and cream and I love the molding, so easy and doable! Well.. time and money but one day! it'll be so cute love it so much more already!
