First day of 1st grade

My first born is a first grader! I know crazy huh!
He was so excited for his first day of school. He couldn't wait all summer to go to school all day, eat school lunch(yuck!) and have 3 recesses. I was worried because no matter what time this kid goes to bed he wakes up around 8:00 or later so I was a little worried that he wouldn't get up in time to get to school at 9:00, but he was too excited on the first day and was up at 7:30, dressed and ready to go. So for an hour he just sat around asking questions and pacing until it was time to go. He was soo ready!
Here he is with Miss Ruby, walking into school on the first day.
I decided to drive him so I could take a picture and help him remember how to get to class. But from here on he is walking with all the neighborhood kids, its far and he has to leave around 8:30 to get there but he walked home all last year so I know he can do it and he loves it.
When we arrived I was showing him where the bathroom was, where he'd meet his friends to walk home, and where the lunch room was. He just kept saying, "I know mom. I know." I guess he is bigger than I thought.
Here he is sitting at his new desk. He was so excited to have the drawer under the desk to put all his supplies. And yes, I became one of those moms who cries on the first day of school. I was so excited for him and so excited that I was going to have one less kid at home for a few hours, but it just made me sad to see my first baby so big and needing his mommy a lot less. Ruby misses him a lot. The first few days she would ask when he was coming home. And today when he got home. She ran up to him and in the cutest voice ever while hugging him said, "Hudson I love you!" Oh I love my kids!

Now next week I drop off my baby girl at her first day of preschool. Lets hope I can get through that.
