Getting my craft on

(not all made in one day.)
Since Finn has been taking extra long naps lately (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself), Ruby has preschool and plays so well by herself for awhile, and Hudson is in school all day I have a few hours here and there to myself.
Are there dishes to be done? Probably.
Is there laundry that needs to be washed, folded, and put away? Probably.
Should I get out of my jammies and shower? Um Yes!
But you know, I do need some me time. Time to do not what Needs to be done, but do what I WANT to do. Its good for the whole family if moms happy right?
So I've been crafting lately. Here are a few of my projects
The minute I saw the yarn wreath in the blog world I knew I had to do it. I loved it! I loved the colors and the vintage, simplicity look it had. It was pretty cheap to make too. I got the idea from here. I loved the yellow yarn she used so I stuck with it, but added different colors of flowers and I used fleece instead of felt for the flowers. I also only went one time around with my yarn and had it really close together and clean. I think a lot of the versions out there go around and around and aren't so particular with the placement of the yard, but I was, yes I'm OCD. So its whatever look you are going for
Isn't it the cutest thing ever?! I love it! I hung mine with a large brown satin ribbon and brown tulle.
I am going to put it in my room after Fall is over because the colors match perfect!
And I am going to make one for Ruby in the colors of her room. So cute and so easy!

My mom bought Ruby some baby paper for $8 at a boutique when she was little. You know how babies love to stick things in there mouth and for some reason love paper, so baby paper is safe, cheap and easy to make. All it is, is fabric with some sort of crinkly thing inside. I found a baby crinkle toy tutorial here but then also found a owl tag toy here and I combined the two to come up with Finns Crinkle Owl toy.

I tried to make a tutorial, but well, I'm spacey and only took 2 pictures. But both tutorials from those lovely gals work great! I can't wait to make a bunch. Such a great Christmas gift for all those babies out there.
Whats the crinkle paper/noisy thing you ask? Just cut up a wipes package, like the costco brand wipes, place between 2 pieces of fabric, right sides together, sew, and turn inside out and walla, baby crinkle paper.

When he woke up I had to test it out and well, success! He loved it! He loves to chew the ribbon on his blanket and he loves noisy things so this owl makes him happy. Best of all, it is machine washable!
I also made a table runner out of some fall fabric scraps I have, I didn't use anyone's tutorial, I saw a table runner at a fabric store one time and figured I could do my own. I would've picked out different fabrics if I had bought some but this is what I had so it worked.
I cut up 5 different coordinating fabrics each fabric in a different widths.
Then I sewed each strip until I had the length I wanted.  Mine was about 15x32.

Here is the top piece all sewn together.
I then cut out a piece of felt the same size as my top quilted piece to use as my batting. (I would've used warm and natural batting but I didn't have enough, I just happened to have a lot of orange felt. Its soft so it worked great.)
Then cut a piece for the back in coordinating material. And sew right sides together with the felt on the back side of one of them.
Cut the corners and leave a large enough opening so you can turn it right side out.
Then once its turned right side out, sew a small straight stitch all the way around (forgot that picture).

And walla, my finished, quick, easy, and cheap table runner. I wanted it to be just long enough to be a table runner length wise on my big table but also be the right fit to lay in the middle of my table width wise if I wanted it to. The final piece ended up being about 14x30.
