We have been needing something for our backyard for quite sometime. We have nothing for the kids to play on. Our backyard is a bit of a hill, not a bad one but a slow slope. So we'd have to do something either way, whether we got a swing set or a trampoline for it to work. But we don't know which to get. It seems like a trampoline would last longer, age wise for the kids. You don't see many 16 yr old boys swinging. But then a swing set with a slide would be great for them right now, however that means I have to push them. I wish I could afford a big swing set that had a big playhouse with it, but those are over $1000. But trampolines are just so fun and they could use it for years, plus think of all the fun sleepovers out on the tramp, we did it all the time, although I remember waking up in the morning being all piled on each other in the middle.

Get a pool.
Seriously.
Get a pool.
Then you can be the cool people on the block.
Get a pool.
Or a trampoline and a pool.
But that equals lawsuits.
Or a slide.
With a pool.
Then you could have all three!
Well the gigantic fort swing sets are so cool, I want one too, but I think a tramp is a little more versatile and practical (as you've pointed out)--and a little more dangerous so you still have to watch the kiddos. I just remember having a swingset growing up, not having a tramp, and always thinking the swingset was a little boring, all you can do is swing. If you don't have a real huge one, like at a park, you can't go really fast and are limited in how high you can swing (and adults can't participate with the kids, which with a tramp is really fun for parents and kids to jump together)and it seems like the smaller swing sets get a little rickety sooner--so you end up having to replace them any way. Tough choice, but my vote is for the tramp.
Kire loves our tramp, but he has fallen off it a few times. You can always take them to a park for a swing set right.
k- still laughing from Blakes' comment!! I say tramp. We got one this year and my girls LOVE it! we got a rectangle one though bec they are extrememly safer and you don't have the -end up in the middle- thing! :) But a swing set is great too!
I agree 100% with Blake. I just got a swing set off of KSL for $30. It is slightly used but looks great. I think you should search KSL first and you might be surprised by the low prices of things. I think trampolines are fun too. Kids love swings though. Good luck.
Tramps are so much fun, however you have to be so cautious! My mom's rule was that friends weren't allowed to jump until they were a certain age (8, I think) because she didn't want to be responsible for a little kid breaking a bone or something- I broke my leg at 4 on a neighbor's tramp. But, as long as you are a watchful mom, I say tramp all the way!
that is a tough question. I was thinking swings for sure until you pointed about the 16 year old boy on a swing. lol thats funny, but yeah tramp would be so fun, but like Skye said you'd have to watch them on that too, what if the fell off!? hmm thats a toughy. good luck. Blake: get a pool. ha ha I wish!
Swing, you have a long time before they are 16 so don't worry about then, I think tramps are ssooooo dangerous, and I would never allow more than one child at a time so swinging is the winner!
we got a trampoline and it gets plenty of use but our neighbor behind us just got a swingset thing with a clubhouse at the top it looks really cool but I think they will outgrow the trampoline later in life than the swingset...but it depends on your kids' personalities and what they like to do. The trampoline definately gets more use by Sissy than the boys...so....?
Tramp...No question about it. Swings can be just as dangerous if you are going to use that as an excuse to not get one. Plus dont you already have the tramp?
