She Stands

This is my favorite time of year. I love the 4th and 24th of July. I love to go to all the fireworks, have bbq's, dress the kids up in Red, White, and Blue, and my house. I have to say I think we have the coolest flag ever. When we finish the basement I want the big room to be Americana, I have all my pages from Pottery Barn torn with all my ideas. I have been wanting to post this song for awhile but forgot on Flag Day so I thought today being Pioneer Day its just as good as any. The song I put to the side on my blog is about our Flag, listen to the music, loudly if possible and I dare you to try not to cry. The words are amazing.

"There She Stands"
By Michael W. Smith
.

"When the night, seems to say.
All hope is lost, gone away.
But I know, I'm not alone
By the light, she stands.
There waves, faithful friend.
Shimmering stars, westward wind
Show a way, carry me
to the place, she stands.
Just when you think it might be over.
Just when you think the fight is gone
Someone will risk his life to raise her,
there she stands.
There she flies, clear blue skies.
Reminds us of red, those that died.
Washed in White, by the brave,
In their dream, she stands...
When evil calls himself a martyr
When all your hopes come crashing down,
someone will pull us from the rubble,
there she stands.
We've seen her flying torn and tattered.
We've seen her stand the test of time.
And through it all the fools have fallen,
there She Stands.
By the dawns early light, and through the fight she stands."
I love our Country and what it stands for. I love all those that serve and had a brother in law who served and a friend who served and it just amazes me the sacrifices they make for our Country. I cried every time this year when I say the soldiers in the parades. I also usually cry when I hear/sing the "Star Spangled Banner", especially in church, yup I'm a bawl baby. I remember we sang that song in Sacrament the Sunday after 9/11 and every ward/stake got a letter from the First Presidency asking to do so, to stand up and sing with Pride, it also talked about the events that had just occurred. It happened to be Trent's homecoming that day as well so it was emotional anyway to have him home and to sing for our country. I remember feeling the spirit so strong and it was quite the emotional day but also one of Pride.

I totally agree, I am sure you have heard it, but if you go to like itunes and type in star spangled banner there is a version of it that reads the story of how it was written, I teared up pretty good. It would have been so easy for those men to give up, but they stood there and held the flag up so it wouldn't fall, they knew how much it meant for us to be free... Wow, thanks, you just gave me a moment, as I typed that, I realized that Christ was their example, he did the same thing.... Now I'm crying...;)
