Rodents and Reptiles

We ran into a few creatures the past few weeks. The other day Hudson, Alexa, and Ruby were playing outside. Then all of a sudden they came in scared to death saying, "There's a orange, black, and brown rat on our house." I could not figure out what they thought looked like a rat on our house. Little did I know when I ran outside that it would be a BAT!!!! Yup thats a little bat sleeping right above our front door. I was so freaked out. I made them come inside and we called Trent to come home and get it. He tried a few different things to get it off, including a hola-hoop and a shovel. The bat finally gave up its grip and flew off, it was so scary when it finally did. But its gone and hopefully for good.
Last Saturday my sisters and me and our families went on a hike. It was the perfect day, a bit overcast and kind of muggy but perfect for hiking. We hiked up Beus Trail, its GORG, with a river flowing by you the whole way, oh yeah, and snakes everywhere. As you can see Bingham wasn't scared one bit, my kids and I were though.

Neither was Boen. Brody kept letting Boen hold it and he would just laugh.
Trent wasn't so sure about holding the snake, mostly because he was by the rattle snake Brody was holding. But as you can see Brody was just fine. Brody caught three snakes on our hike, one being a rattle snake, that's what he is holding. We were all freaking out but he thought it was the coolest thing ever. I have never seen one up close, nor do I want to again. The sound of that rattle, and the feel of it, yes I touched the rattle, was freaky. I think he still has it in his garage.

On our way up the hike we spotted a perfect place to take some pictures. Amy and Brody were already half way down the trail when we decided to stop. They had to hurry because Brody was holding the stupid rattle snake.
My little cuties. They LOVE hiking.

Daddy and the kids.

So beware, if you go up Beus Trail, its gorgeous and so fun but there are snakes everywhere.
oh and sorry for the blurring pictures, I don't know why they are. I still need a new camera.

Hey April, I was going to ask you if I could get a new binki clip for Haydn. The one I have is for the other style of binkis. You beat me too it when I saw your post on my blog. :) no rush for it just when we see you. We need to hang out sometime soon.

Wow, it looks like you guys have been having so much fun! I grew up with brothers that were way into snakes and lizards, so I don't mind them at all. Cute pictures too!

CREEPY!! Why would you want to pick up a rattle snake, let alone take it home with you?! I would have freaked out about the bat too. It looks like your hike was fun though, the pictures are cute! :)

Oh my gosh, we had bats at our house in Layton and we couldn't get them to go away. Trent would shoot them with the bb gun, but we eventually started leaving our porch light on at night and they found somewhere else to go. That hike looks like so much fun. It was good to talk to you the other day. I told Trent I'm not sure why I don't talk to you more. Hopefully we can get together soon.

Yikes! I am not graceful around snakes! My kids found a baby one while we were at a wedding up Parleys Canyon - they, of course, loved it.
I was hyperventilating.

Ok... Remind me never to hike up there! I hate snakes... Ok, more like I am DEATHLY afraid of them! But, the rest looks pretty! :)
