Pregnancy Update

I went to my Dr today because of some concerns he had last time with the pool of blood around the placenta. He wanted to double check to see if it was going away and make sure it wasn't causing any problems with the baby. Well, lets just say we all got a shock. Trent and I were expecting it to be gone or almost gone, (the blood that is), because I have been having tons of bleeding every few days since I saw him two weeks ago. Well, instead of being gone, it was almost double in size. We, including the Dr. were in shock. He went back to my last ultrasound and measured the blood and then went to the current picture and measured it. The one good thing, is that the baby is totally fine. The baby is actually measuring 11 wks 3 days, one day ahead and was moving great, looked great, and had a very strong heartbeat. So he has no concerns with the baby this far. Trent and I just had all kinds of questions, like how could it be possible for the blood to be growing and not going away when I am bleeding. He said I am obviously bleeding internally, probably from the placenta but for some reason its not doing harm to the baby. He said the part of the placenta where the baby gets all its nutrients is away from the blood which is great because the baby is still getting its supply. However, there is still a risk of miscarriage and pre-term labor. He feels at this point the baby is doing good and will probably be fine, however its just odd that the blood clots are growing. So they took some blood to check my blood cell counts to make sure I am ok and not losing a ton. I am to see him in two more weeks to measure it again and double check that the baby is still growing and is ok. So right now, just a lot of questions and not a lot of answers. My Dr is amazing and just assured us that he thinks everything will be fine. Although this is rare he's seen it be successful and feels that everything should be fine. He said the blood could continue to pass or it may just get absorbed into the body as the baby and placenta push on it. So here's to waiting for two more weeks to see what will happen.
If you look closely the baby is in the middle in the placenta, and then around the baby are two big black cavities almost, that is the blood.
This picture shows the blood the best. Scary huh! Boy am I grateful for modern medicine and I am so grateful that the baby is well, alive, and kickin'.
Oh and the one good thing, this has been a great pregnancy, other than the blood, so far. I have not been sick at all. Just a bit tired, hungry, and a little light headed. Which is great because how could I take care of two kids if I was super sick, like I've been in the past.
