Borax Crystallized Stars

I love these Borax sparkly stars and I made some last year for our tree and I thought everyone would have fun making them for their own tree. So here is the recipe. They are so cheap and easy to make and come out crystallized so when Christmas lights hit them on the tree they sparkle, the picture doesn't give them justice.

Borax Crystal Stars

Borax soap (found in the laundry aisle)

pipe cleaners

pencil or stick

wide mouth mason quart jars

string

Bend your pipe cleaners into star shapes. They can be any size just as long as they fit into the jar and don't touch the sides of it. Then tie a string at one point of the star and the other end of the string around a pencil or stick. So that the star hangs from the pencil. Make sure that the string is long enough that the star hangs but doesn't touch any part of the jar.

Fill the mason jars with boiling water. Mix borax into jar with water one Tablespoon at a time. You do three tbsp. per cup of water. Keep mixing till the Borax isn't dissolving and is settling on the bottom or is really cloudy. Then place the star into the jar with the stick resting on the top of the jar so the star is dangling in. Leave overnight, do not touch. And wake up to crystallized stars in the morning. The longer you leave it the more crystallized it gets. You don't want any pipe cleaner showing. Remove from water and let dry. Tie a ribbon around the star and hang on the tree.

That is funny I thought what does Borat have to do with anything April would be talking about, but oops I read on and figured it wasn't Borat it was Borax!
