Hammers and Ponytails

There is a reason why I took all these pictures today, (to see them better click on them.) I chased Roo around the house all day trying to get the best ones. Ruby has a lot of addictions, her blankie, binkie, the little yellow worm you see in some of the pictures, and her doll, but have you ever heard of a little girl being obsessed with a hammer? Well, Ruby is, she loves "The Hammer", and she won't let it go.
Here's how it all started.
The other day we were at my moms house and it was past Ruby's bedtime, so she was really tired. She was holding a toy hammer and snuggling with Trenton and he was loving it because snuggling is not her thing. He went to take it out of her hands so we could go and she screamed and I mean screamed. So he gave it back and she stopped immediately. She fell asleep on the way home and so when he went to put her in her crib he tried to take the hammer out, but there was no budging, she had the death grip on that thing. She was sound asleep and didn't let go. So she slept with it that night. I thought she would wake up in the morning and forget about it, we assumed it was just because she was so tired, but she didn't forget and has been inseparable from it ever since. If she goes to bed without it, the minute she wakes up its the first thing she goes to. Funny huh, if anyone tries to take it away she throws a fit, as you can see from one of the pictures where she is crying.
The other reason I took pictures of her, besides her being so cute today, was that I tried a ponytail on her and it worked. Although I have to say, it took forever. If any of you have any tips on how to get your little girls to stay still long enough to put a ponytail in let me know.

That is hillarious that she loves the hammer - who would've thought? And I still have a hard time keeping Emmy still long enough to put her hair into a ponytail. I just have to give her something to play with that she doesn't usually get to play with like my chapstick or something. Good luck!

Oh, my! I don't know how many times I can say how beautiful she is! I think I am being unfaithful to my own daughter. You know I think she is so cute too, right?
That is hilarious about the hammer, Emma doesn't really have too many attachments. She does for a while then she changes her mind. Funny how different they all are.
Tips for doing Ruby's hair: Put her in the bathroom sink facing the mirror and let her play there. It is the perfect hight for you and it keeps her preoccupied (mirror, brush, lotion, faucet, some toys). Like the other comment said, something she doesn't usually get to play with. Tip two: Water and Hairspray. It goes a lot faster and you don't have to comb and mess around with it as much when the hair is wet with some hairspray, it takes just a few swipes of the comb then a quick tie of the elastic band. Tip three: Practice makes perfect. You will get better at dealing with her moving around too. We will do Emma's hair while she watches a "show" and that works too. She knows now when I say "Let's do your hair" to go into the bathroom or sit on my lap. And she even says Hair now. :) She's not always perfect, but pretty darn close. I attribute to that to me doing her hair since she was really little, she doesn't know any different. :) Ruby looks so cute with her pony! Keep it up! Love Laura
